Sarah Bixeman

Sarah Bixeman

Co-founder

Dog mom, fun-loving auntie, and wannabe artist, Sarah co-founded The Hope Project for Kids with her best friend and former college roommate. Inspired by Krystle’s daughter, Amelia, they’re on a mission to bring joy, support, and a little extra magic to families navigating a rare disease. When not working on the nonprofit, you can find them covered in paint, spoiling their nieces and nephews, or having deep conversations with their dogs (who obviously run the house).

Advocacy and Community Outreach

Mattie is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of North Texas. She loves spontaneous adventures, singing way too loud in the car, ice cream with friends, and classic Halloween movies. This past summer, she studied human trafficking in Europe, consulting with nonprofits and government organizations to deepen her understanding of community outreach and resource allocation. With a strong passion for child advocacy, she is excited to bring her skills to this new organization, focusing on outreach for children with rare diseases and providing resources to their families.

Krystle Urizar-Myers

Krystle Urizar-Myers

Co-founder

Amazing mom to Amelia and her two brothers, Kayden and Emerson, Krystle is the definition of strength, love, and resilience. She’s also a proud dog mom, chicken mom, and all-around powerhouse. After Amelia’s MLD diagnosis, Krystle turned heartbreak into action, co-founding The Hope Project for Kids with her best friend to support families facing rare diseases. When she’s not busy changing lives, you can find her wrangling kids, chasing chickens, or proving that moms really do have superpowers.

Music lover, concert junkie, and proud UNT student, Brianna is on her way to becoming a Child Life Specialist with a heart for helping kids and families. When she’s not studying or lending a hand, you’ll probably catch her singing along at a concert, laughing way too hard with friends and family, or curled up watching her favorite comfort shows.
